Baby Doe Tabor LIVE

This live performance was filmed at the Little Tabor Theatre in Leadville, Colorado to a full house. Melva Touchette first learned about Baby Doe Tabor from a classmate at Ft. Hays State University, and was instantly captivated by her amazing story. After earning her B.A., she went on to earn her Master’s Degree at the University of Arizona. She originally created the full-length, one woman play “Baby Doe Tabor” for her presentation as her Masters thesis, and later developed it for the stage. The play encompasses Baby Doe’s life from age 21 until 2 years before her death in 1935. Melva first came to Leadville in 1937, where the mystique of the mountains captured her heart and imagination. She performed her signature role for audiences from all over the world, in settings that ranged from opera houses to parlor houses. In order to preserve the ambience of her performances LIVE, Ms. Touchette never allowed cameras at her performances. This is an EXCLUSIVE production, and was her last performance before her death in 2006.
